1977 LINDBERGH FLIGHT - SPIRIT OF ST LOUIS #1710 Plate Block of 12 x 13 cents US Postage Stamps - In 1977 the USPS celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Lindberg Flight. On May 20, 1927, without a radio, and armed only with a compass and a map, Charles A. Lindbergh took off near New York City in his plane "Spirit of St. Louis." Thirty-three hours later he landed in Paris, thus completing the first solo non-stop flight across the Atlantic Ocean. ( Charles Lindbergh )
