1974 UNIVERSAL POSTAL UNION #1537a Plate Block of 16 x 10 cents US Postage Stamps - In 1974 this series was issued to mark the 100th anniversary of the Universal Postal Union. The eight stamps display the theme of writing and reading letters. The design of each stamp was taken from the paintings done by eight different international artists. RAPHAEL From the Italian artist Rafael's "School of Athens" in the Vatican. Raphael gave Heraclitus the features of Michelangelo.
