1954 GEORGE EASTMAN ~ KODAK #1062 Plate Block of 4 x 3 cents US Postage Stamps - On July 12 1954 in Rochester NY the USPS celebrated the 100th birthdate of George Eastman, founder of the Eastman Kodak Company. Born in Waterville, NY, in 1854, George Eastman is remembered as the inventor of roll film, helping to bring photography to the mainstream. Years later, this invention led to the development of motion picture film. Eastman died in 1932, at the age of 78, his ashes are buried at Kodak Park, a large industrial complex run by Eastman Kodak in Rochester NY. ( Eastman Kodak, Kodak Film )
